WHAT IS HEALTHINFO ISLAND?
The mission of Healthinfo Island is to provide timely, accurate, and accessible information on topics of physical, emotional, and mental health. This is done through interactive displays, links to outside resources, group events, and personalized assistance.
The Consumer Health Library at HealthInfo Island are here to help SL residents with health information needs.
Virtual Ability Inc has adopted HealthInfo Island.
Virtual Ability helps bring people with a wide range of disabilities into Second Life, and provides them with a supporting environment once here.
We help our new members integrate into SL society and provide information, encouragement, training, companionship, referrals to other SL resources and groups, ways to contribute back to the community, and ways to have fun.
Whether you have a disability or not, if you have questions or want to get involved, please contact or join us!

Healthinfo Island was originally funded by the Greater Midwest Region of the National Network/National Library of Medicine (GMR NN/NLM) through a grant written by Lori Bell, of the Alliance Library System, Illinois. Librarians at Healthinfo Island in Second Life explore the provision of consumer health information services in a virtual environment.
